| Business Manager, U.S. Carbon Market: Numark Associates, Inc., is a Washington, DC-based energy and environmental consulting firm with several years of experience in the carbon market. NUMARK has a long business relationship with international utility companies and a well-established network of CDM project developers throughout Latin America, and has successfully assisted greenhouse gas-emitters supplement their own emissions reduction measures with investments in CDM projects.
NUMARK intends to expand its focus to participate in the important growth of the carbon and energy consulting markets in the U.S. NUMARK is seeking to hire an individual experienced in the carbon business to develop and lead our U.S. market segment. This individual will be responsible for building a corporate strategy that may include direct carbon market transactions; consulting services to industry on greenhouse gas mitigation strategies as well as regulatory compliance; and independent validation and verification services. The strategy should take into account the US Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the existing renewable energy incentives and the developing cap–and-trade legislation in the U.S. The successful candidate will be expected to think creatively about new business and lead the company into new entrepreneurial ventures in the carbon area. He or she will be responsible for marketing the strategy among U.S. industries, managing relationships with new customers and ensuring the company’s reputation is maintained and grown throughout the market. Candidates must have experience at networking, extraordinary independence and initiative, a talent for deal-making, and excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate needs to have a sound understanding of the carbon market, carbon finance and the required consulting services in this area. The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years’ professional experience with no less than five years in the carbon or related environmental/energy markets, and a proven track record as a leader or manager of projects and multi-party stakeholder processes. An individual with engineering or technical background, with a focus on the energy sector, environmental economics or finance, is strongly preferred.
